How Long Should a Blog Post Be?
2 min 2 sec No Skimming
by M LeMont
Since the release HTG100K I've been getting some non-related emails like this one. "I'm a fan of your blogs and love your website. You have an unusual writing style that draws a reader into the story. How long should a blog post be?"
Well, let's see if I can answer that question without offending anybody. Most blog posts are long and detailed that causes a reader to yawn, take a cat nap, and run down to the corner store before they finish reading.
The new Millennials are impatient and want relevant information, and they want it fast. I write blogs that take 2 min 2 sec to read with a good story, benefits, and some infotainment value that make them want to come back. I make my writings like a conversation at the kitchen table.
Now I don't like complainers or nitpickers.
I'll try to run them off with something I know they don't like. They're more concern about a typo than getting an idea that could change or improve their life.
Anyway, let me get to the question. Here's the best answer I can give you. Ready? I'm going to say it fast, so nobody thinks it's a tragedy.
How long should a blog post be?
Your blog should be written like a woman wearing a short dress.
"Short enough to get attention but long enough to cover important details."
You see what I mean. It's that easy. Curiosity is the number one reason people click on links, read blogs, buy books, and products on the internet.
Okay, that's it my sweet dumpling, go forth and write a good one. And, by the way, on your way out, grab a cold one out the frig and a copy of my latest book that one reader said made her laugh and made her cry. I said, my goodness, it's a non-fiction book on how to gain 100,000 Twitter followers!
Good writers have that effect on people, no matter what they're writing. Work at it, practice every day until you master the art. Buy it now
