 roads lead to Rome--Marketing Plan

2 min 2 seconds
No Skimming

by M LeMont

Your book has been published for a few years and sales are so bad it makes you want to puke.   As a matter of fact, you've stopped promoting it and never look at your sales ranking.  Well, help is on its way for the weary and broken hearted. So stick with me, I've got 2 min 2 seconds to tell you how to turn things around.

The first thing that you must do is  believe that you've written a good book.  Then you must have the conviction to do whatever it takes to make it successful.

It boils down to one thing--marketing. The success formula is 95% marketing and 5% book.

People can't buy if they don't know it exists.  When the market knows, it will determine whether it's a good book or not. And then, and only then, will you know what to do next.

 roads lead to Rome

The American Heritage dictionary explains it like this--  -

"All paths or activities lead to the center of things.
This was true in the days of the Roman Empire, when all the empire's roads out from the capital city, Rome.'

Now figuratively speaking---It means you must build roads, channels, infrastructure, for all mobile devices, PC's, and platforms, known and unknown because all roads will lead to your book.  Let me break it down: Social Media platforms-- Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Google+.   Then the various channels and forms: Youtube, podcasts, interviews, blogs, tweets & retweets, social conversations, customer testimonials, Google search engines, Amazon search, word of mouth & paid advertising, trailers, page description, "Look Inside" feature, guest blogs, book tours, press releases, newsletter, email list, etc.

Yes, all of these you must do and more, over time.

wasn't built overnight.

Laying down infrastructure could take years.  But in the end, all roads lead to your Roman Empire--your book.

And if your confidence wavers and you begin to wonder how things are going? Then keep a pulse on the market--interact with your customers--ask how they found your book and what motivated their buying decision.

This my sweet pea, is what successful marketing is all about. So roll up your sleeves--you got work to do.

All roads lead to Rome.
